  Creating proxies when working with with 4K .MOV files

  Resolve has built in proxy generation support but it seems only with DPX files.
  Can anyone suggest or point me to a tutorial on creating proxies when working with 4K .MOV (mpg encoded) files?
  Is this an entirely manual process, creating the proxies with identical file names then swapping them out in the finder just before rendering?
