    Hello all,

As I am a novice Illustrator user, this may be a very simple question. I’ve been asked to outline a jpeg logo with Illustrator. Is there a simple way to create vector outlines from objects or text. I’ve been using the pen tools, etc., but this seems tedious and not as exact as I would like. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks in advance.

what you need is a tool that can “Trace” the logo. illustrator has one but i don’t use it often, it has never given m good results. go to download.com, search for trace and see the options in the market, most of them let you try them for free before buying.

tracing will take any picture and convert it from raster to vector, then you can use the pathfinder tools to edit the new vectors as you need to get the outline that you want.

i hope this is helpful for you.
