    Hi all,

I am using XPress Studio HD (v5.2.1 with XPress Pro upgrad v5.2.4).
My project is in standard PAL 16:9 DV (DV25 420) and the finished film sequence has a length of 1 hour 40 minutes.

I need to create my PAL DVD (DVD-R 4.7Gb). Please be patient, I will give as much relevant info as possible.

Before doing the quicktime ref, I did a video mixdown and audio mixdown and created a new sequence with the resulting clips.

I then send the sequence to a quicktime ref ensuring that the aspect ratio is set to “native dimensions” and that audio is set to WAVE or AIFF at 48Khz and 16 bits.

Once in Sorenson squeeze, I link in the audio file (sorenson workaround for the well known bug) and select the preset DVD_PAL_Lg. I update the settings to use DVD compliant values (2 pass VBR, data rate of 5865 Kbps video and 192 audio, frame rate of 25fps and iframe rate of 15, aspect ratio of 16:9, field encoding set to top field first), I then add a filter to remove the automatic deinterlacing and hit the “squeeze-it” button.

When I then view the resulting output, the quality is so-so, but most importantly I am getting “jagged” edges when panning.

Does anyone know how to overcome this? I have been battling with this for 2 weeks now and have clients waiting. Frustration and stress is max!
