    Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had any good ideas or plugins to create objects out of smoke, quite whispy like cigarette smoke.

So say I have quite a complex shape, like a persons head, I want the smoke to emit and form the head shape and then react to movement.

I have looked at DPIT and Turbulence 4D – but not too impressed. It needs to be quite high end.

Any ideas would be welcomed 🙂

How about using two separate renders. One with smoke as you want it, and another using an alpha with whatever smoke material you are using projected onto a spine (creating the shape you choose). You could then composite the two in Photoshop.

Here’s one with DPIT Effex: https://www.3danvil.com/tutorials/Head%20Smoke%2002.mov

Could certainly be improved with more work.
