Creating New Sequence in Premiere Pro that will NOT allow Audio Tracks
Challenge: We are editing long video clips that contain audio. We have no use for the audio. As there are hundreds of edits and video drops into the sequence, we’d like the audio to not be allowed (with our insert to sequence shortcut it automatically brings the unnecessary audio with the video). This requires us to lock the video and then delete the audio on every sequence (over 50/day).
We are aware of the option to click and drag video only from the source monitor but this is too time consuming and also leads to inadvertent black space between some clips. The insert video to sequence shortcut is best but lets not bring the audio.
We know this is possible as we previously had it set to do this but somewhere our setting or sequence creation got changed.

Sequences require at least one audio track so no way to do that. What you want to do is highlight all your clips in the project bin, right click, modify, audio and set the number of tracks to 0. Then only the video will import, but you’re able to go back to that clip and reactivate the audio tracks if necessary. Doing this won’t change the clips already in a sequence, but any use of that clip going forward will have audio.

Initially we didn’t think this would resolve our challenge because upon completing video edit we did need and audio track to lay an instrumental.
Remarkably, when we select our music in the project bin and press our Insert shortcut it drops the audio onto an audio track (in spite of having modified audio to zero tracks).
While we never modified the audio in the past and it allowed us to routinely do this, yours is a great solution with only 1 step at the beginning (modify audio).
