  • Creating “Kung Fu” old film style in FCP

    Hi all,

I am attempting to make a scene look ancient, as the setting is Ancient China. I have used Threshold, Sepia and Noise to give it a certain old style to it, but can’t seem to get it just right. I know older Kung Fu films have such a look due to how they were shot, but if anyone can offer any suggestions, I’m always happy to hear them. I can also take the footage into AE if necessary. Thanks!!!

Nattress G film has a preset for old film which you can tweak a lot.

    Have a wonderful day.

    My usual response:
Be careful with “old film” effects. A little goes a very long way with today’s sophisticated audiences.
There’s a big difference between applying a stylistic look and feel to some footage and trying to make it look like it is old film.
