  • Creating glowing spot along edge

I’m trying different stuff I found on this forum to create my effect, but can’t make the right one.

This is what I want: a small moving glowing spot along a edge. You find this a lot on scorebords in sport programs. See the picture below for an example. The moving spot is above the period/time part or a small one without dot is above the ‘1’ of NY (ignore the glowing part at the left of the period/time).

    (yes, I’m a hockey fan 😉 )

I think it’s not that difficult, but I think I need the right start. Found lots of effects with lines, glows, etc, but can’t find a way to match the moving spot (with the trail on the left and right). Hope someone can help me.

    Thanx in advance.

    Greetz,
    Jeroen

    You’re looking at Effect>Generate>Vegas.

You’ll need to draw a mask with at least three vertices to get it to work. Also set VEgas towork with a mask instead of the default, Image Contour.

You’ll have to swap the values for starting and end values to get the streak to look right – ie. thick to thin. You animate Vegas using its rotation parameter.

Add some Glow to taste and use the Add Blending Mode.

Would you be interested in two, near mint Lemieux rookie cards?

Thanx, this was exactly what I was looking for. Perfect! Little bit of fine tuning, and a nice result now. 🙂
