Creating condensation on glass bottle
Hi there, I’ve got a question related to creating condensation droplets on a glass bottle. I’m no c4d expert, but slowly getting my head around it. I’ve modelled a beer bottle that I will try to attach so you can view it and also a close up of my problem. I do a lot of retouching and use c4d when necessary so I need to render high res files for print.
I have created the condensation drops by making a material containing an alpha channel and displacement map to give the drop its height. the alpha channel links to a sharp high res psd file to give the drops their shape and then the displacement links to a blurred version to give roundness. I have applied the material to a wireframe duplicate of the bottle and then reduced the wireframe slightly so that most of the drops show above the bottles surface, but not the base level at the same height as my glass. I am rendering using a sub polygon displacement of 5 to help with displacement detail. Maybe my problem is that I’ve not got enough detail here (thinking out loud).
The problem that I’m getting (when rendering at 4000×7000 pixels) is that i’m getting some strange artifacting around the circular base of each drop. I’m also getting a block kind of look in the glass at certain areas. I’m wondering if this is because my droplets are visible inside/underneath the surface of my glass bottle?
Does anyone have any suggestion to what the cause of my problem might be or has someone had this before? Thanks, Kevin
