  • Creating an apple movie trailer aspect ratio from 4:3 format

Posted by Paul Meyer on January 30, 2007 at 2:50 pm

    Hello,

I’m attempting to make a trailer similar to the look of apple’s movie trailer size.
Their trailers aren’t exactly 16:9. How can I achieve this format from existing 4:3 footage?
Any advice would truly be appreciated.

Create your original comp in a reduced sized 16:9 format (360×240 widescreen) then simply place footage in the screen and adjust position.

I’m still a bit confused after several attempts…
When you’re in the Composition Settings window:
    What Preset should be used?
I unlocked Aspect Ratio to 4:3.
I used NTSC DV and then set the width to 360, height 240.
Then the Frame Aspect Ratio changed to 6:5.
    I made a movie format of a Quicktime / Compression type H.264.

The quicktime was close to size, but not the exact look of the apple movie trailers.

Any more advice would truly be appreciated.
