Creating Abstract Art from a Photo
This is one thing I have been trying to figure out how to do for a while. I want to learn how to make a non-objective/abstract art piece using elements from a photo and make shapes and patterns out of them. I have looked for a filter that can do this but have not found anything that does what I am looking for. I have seen numerous abstract photo manipulation tutorials for photoshop around the internet but I would not consider them “abstract” because the subject is not made unrecognizable. I have also Googled for what I am hoping to find and found all the search results irrelevant.
Do you guys have any techniques you could share with me? I really am interested in making this kind of art.

Very vague question my friend. Could you provide some examples?
If you just want any old abstract run the Filter Gallery and play with the filters until you’ve significantly fudged up your image.

Like the stuff that this person on deviantART makes. I heard that he/she uses discarded photos as source material.
