Creating a video screen
Hi All,
To day I created a project where a piece of video plays on a #D screen. I created it by layer mapping the video onto a box and setting the layermap to absolute color. In the manual it says that this will make the video look like “it’s creating its own light” and that it will …”render the movie at full brightness.”
While doing it this way looks OK, the video is much darker than the original video. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this look a little better>

HI Ray,
Absolute Color will indeed render the image as the same brightness as the original. If you look at the image an an AE source window and look at the final rendering in the comp window the two will be identical. Here are some possible things that may change this basic color brightness:
– The layer the Invigorator is on has been made partially transparent
– The object has been made partially transparent
– The layer you are using for the texture map has been altered from the original color.
– The material you are using for the video map hasn’t really been set to absolute color. To check what has actually been applied to an object, first select just the one object, then click the Show Palette checkbox to see the materials applied to the object, then double click the material in the palette to load it into the material editor, then check the material editor to see that Absolute Color has been applied.Hope this helps,
