[Shelly Somerset] “an error message keeps popping up the says Creating a proxy file for a stream”

    Are you editing WMV files?

Yes and I am aware of how you feel about those files…however the files that are missing their peaks are mp3’s…

I ask because Vegas doesn’t edit WMV audio natively and needs to build audio proxies so this would be normal. I’m not aware of this happening with MP3 files. Do you know if the MP3 files use CBR or VBR (Constant Bit Rate vs. Variable Bit Rate). I’ve seen some problems with some VBR encoded MP3 files. Vegas does better with CBR.

If you can get them to work, you could always convert them to WAV files but I haven’t had any problems with CBR encoded MP3’s.

Hi. Sorry to revive an old thread, but just thought I’d post here since I’ve found a fix / solution.

Just convert the video that’s giving you the error to MP4 or AVI and import it back into your project, as a substite. Then the “Error creating a proxy file for a stream” should go away 🙂

Hope that helps someone out there!
