I have an infomercial I am creating and the client wants a continual stream of info scrolling over the bottom of the screen like a CNN newsfeed.

What’s the best way to tackle this? I googled but didnt find much for FCP studio2

    Your input is appreciated!

    thanks

    Hi Joseph,

Boris Title 3D can do crawls just fine. Live type too. Or if it’s not too long you can make a long Photoshop layer and loop it.

    Have a wonderful day.

Yar, actually putting it on the screen is not as difficult as designing it. Find a model you want to emulate. Create the background animations, decide on video-friendly a typeface, establish the edge/shadow styles based on how legible you want the information to be.
Have your production assistant handle this for you, good practice.
Be sure you spellcheck carefully and do it again and again. There is nothing that will turn off potential customers than elementary spelling errors and poor grammar. Do not use two spaces after punctuation.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Boris Title Crawl in your Generators folder would be your best bet.

FCP’s built in crawl plugin will work if you don’t need the text to display be too long, otherwise you’ll run afoul of a built in 32k pixel (length) limit … Alex Gollner designed a great (and free) plugin to bypass this limit and more besides:
