    Hi,
I want to shoot a clip soon, and my intention is to create a bleak, grayish look to the image with one exception, that the one person, probably dressed in red, will keep his colors. Is this complicated or easy to achieve?
If there are similar colors to the color he is wearing, is this a problem?

    Thanks in advance

    p.s. I don’t want a monochrome or black\white look, just fade.

This isn’t something that Avid Media Composer is going to be able to do. That’s a pretty sophisticated color grade. This is best done in Scratch or Smoke or Resolve.

Picking out an element that’s one colour and giving it a different grade to the rest of the picture isn’t too hard (same clip on two layers and the keyer of your choice), but isolating a person including clothes, face, hair, etc, is harder. I have isolated a person in order to treat the background differently using Animatte, it’s rather tortuous if you need to do more than a few seconds/shots but is a possibility if the subject movement isn’t too extreme.
