Create Spotlights that shine from ceiling with rings on the floor
I have some footage shot against a green screen and I’d love to fake this effects with multiple instances of dancers popping up under spotlights:
Any tips on how to do this? I’ve never really done a lot with lights in AE, but I’ve played around and can’t really get the ring on the floor effect.
I get something like this with a little playing:
Any suggestions would really be appreciated!

The only plugin I know of which will add volumetric lights to After Effects is Trapcode Lux, from Red Giant:

Check out whether it will cast shadows or not – that could be faked in AE using your layer, with Shadow Only turned on with a Drop Shadow applied. There are also a few other plugins which will cast perspective shadows – I think there’s one in the CC pack that comes with AE.
