July 15, 2010 at 6:29 amspeaking of right tool for the job,
if you want to change a batch of sequences in one go you could do that via XML.HOW you do that, i’m not sure.
the XML app “traffic” might be able to do it, i don’t know.if you are good with coding you might be able to do it yourself.
the XML document is really just a text document, and you could program a text editing app to replace “DVCPRO HD with “Pro Res” and one frame-size for another.again, a bit of testing will be required.

July 15, 2010 at 6:57 amok there is GOOD NEWS.
all you have to do is export your ng sequences as an XML.
then re-import that same XML.
in the dialogue window that comes up you can set a new sequence setting.
UN-CHECK the box “over-ride with settings from XML”the sequences will have been changed.
this will NOT change the existing frame-rate.nick

All of your solutions are great. I’ll try them out. I like the XML idea. Very good.
Thanks.

That app is dead, I believe.
Also, using XML might be possible, but you lose all relationship to the original clips in the bin.
I would do this manually just to make sure everything is ‘right’.

July 15, 2010 at 4:48 pmJust curious, does QuicKeys go above and beyond what Automator can do?

“using XML might be possible, but you lose all relationship to the original clips in the bin”that’s right.
however, the project is at the syncing rushes and sub-clip stage, so that’s not a problem, thankfully.the export / import with different settings thing’sa wild find.
very interesting.PAUL
try the XML first.i have to admit, your workflow is still not very clear.
seems like you might be trying to do things the way you would in an avid.
without remembering much of how FCP works
it could lead to problems.
subclips can sometimes, especially in multiclips -

“I’m not so sure about this. Since the audio is separate, it could cause sync issues when just willy nilly changing the frame rate in XML. TEsting would need to prove or disprove.

July 15, 2010 at 11:50 pmI know Paul has received other answers unrelated to macros, but I just came across this alternative to QuicKeys — a utility called Spark:

Andy Mees blogs about it with some specific FCP hotkeys:
(disclaimer — I have not tried this )

July 16, 2010 at 5:11 am“changing the frame rate in XML”
i see, but the frame rate doesn’t change.
FCP wont allow it.
doesn’t matter what you ask for, it always comes back with your original frame rateanyway the OP doesn’t seem to care about the frame rate any more.
if he does i’d still probably suggest go with copy paste. then adjust for frame slippage.
or just start from scratch and send it all though puraleyes again overnight.nick
