  • Crashing whenever Log and Capture is attempted

Posted by Conan Skyrme on January 14, 2008 at 7:04 pm

As stated in the subject line, I am trying to Log and Capture footage from a D-Beta deck but Final Cut crashes the moment I select ‘Log and Capture’ from the file menu (the capture window appears briefly before the crash happens). I have restarted the computer (mac G5 tower) several times and this has not helped.

    Any advice? Many thanks.

    Trash your prefs.

What version of everything are you on and what capture card/drivers, give us everything.

If trashing prefs is not working…

    re-install Quicktime…
to do a complete Quicktime reinstall… you should trash the Quicktime receipts on /Library/receipts first.

This will cheat Quicktime installer and will do a complete reinstall (not a zero K update)

have worked for me several times.

Hey, I had this problem too. I had just re-installed the OS and couldn’t get the firewire to recognize, plus it also crashed if I went to capture. I found that getting rid of the preference files didn’t fix this problem but re-installing Quicktime did fix it. Cheers 🙂
