  • Crashing on Batch List Export

Posted by Dudeguy37 on August 7, 2007 at 11:45 pm

I’ve upgraded to FCP 6 in the last month, and now I get a crash every time I go to export a batchlist. I know this is probably an overlooked feature for many people, especially with XML now, but for me it is the easiest way to get my log notes that I enter during capture to my boss/producer. Can anyone replicate this problem? I’m getting a hang in Final Cut, and then it crashes, leaving me with a batch list that has the full information of 3 or 4 clips, but nothing of the 27 others. Can anyone help me? Ahhhh…copy, switch application, paste is going to start killing me if I have to do it each night for dailies. Thanks in advance.
    Peace,

    -Harry

Where are you exporting from? A particular bin? What’s in there?

Yup…just exporting a batch list of a bin, 27 captured NTSC DV clips. Tried it exporting entire project, just a few clips, the whole bin, two bins at a time, right side up, upside down, it’s been like Green Eggs and Ham meets Batch Lists here for the last day or so. Can you replicate the problem on your machine? I’m on a 2.4 MBP, FCP 6.0.1, QT 7.1.6, OS X.4.10. Thanks again.
    Peace,

I can’t now, but can check in the AM.

Have you tried double clicking the bin to open on it’s own and then exporting?

have you tried getting rid of a bin (having all clips in the top level of the project) and then exporting? Perhaps it’s better to open a new project with a few shots in it to test this.

I export batch lists all the time from Final Cut 6.

Try trashing your final cut preferences. Here’s one of the places with instructions for version 6 and some troubleshooting advice:

I’ve tried setting the project up every which way, and still no dice. Tried trashing the prefs too, my go too remedy that usually works. I’ll try it again just to see what happens. Jeremy, if you’re willing to check in the morning that’d be great. Thanks to both of you.

If I have the time, I’ll do it for sure.
