Crash While editing Please give your adivce
how can i resolve this problem, it happened when draggin clips around, but i did have a lot on project but i don’t think it should still crash loads like it is doing the problem description is as follows

Luke, my experience with 9 on 32 bit was that it was quite buggy, depending on the footage. What is the base footage you are using? From which camera and was it AVCHD, MOV, etc? What version of the OS?
Has the crashing just started happening or has it been going on for a while? Did you change anything lately? Add new antivirus software?Without upgrading, you might try transcoding all your footage. Getting it all to a standard editing codec might help.
My experience with Vegas 10, running 64 bit on 64 bit Windows 7 has been much better, especially with the recent . releases. I’m looking forward to 11 as it appears that the team has been working on foundations rather than simply new features.
I rarely get crashes, without needing to transcode footage. I just laid in 1 hour of footage into a timeline today, with multiple tracks, and did not have any problems. I’m not saying I don’t, but it is much less frequent, seems to come, when it does, after I have closed out all my projects and am closing Vegas. But I do still frequently save, and save multiple versions to make sure that a corrupt file doesn’t take me down.
I am also very cautious about using Windows updates. I usually check with Windows Secrets and get their take on how necessary they are.

Well, it all sounds ok, but MP4 is a delivery codec rather than an editing one. I would try converting to something that is better for editing and see if that does the job. Cineform is a good place to start, but there are others. Maybe just bring it into Vegas and convert it to MXF and see if gets more stable?
Vista seems to have been very problematic for me in general, and much of my problems with it vanished with a move to Win7 64 bit.
But I don’t think that this is the problem, as much as 32 bit Vegas. You can download the 64 bit version and run it side by side, but would need to upgrade to W7 to do that. Do you have a second machine you could try it on? Like a laptop? I use my laptop for all new versions and try editing copies on it to see if it’s better or worse. e seems to be stable.
