    hi there,

    I’ve a serious problem….

I’m trying to capture 2 tapes of footage shot in HDV 1080i50.
I use HDV-APPLE PRORES 422 (HQ) codec and SONY HVR-M15AE deck.

    1st tape:
contains short clips (max 1 or 2 minutes) and no problems occured during capture

    2nd tape:
contains a long clip (45 minutes) and everytime i try to capture it, FCP unexpectely quits after 26:10:00 of capturing….

it seems to be a problem due to clip’s duration and codec because it happens also on other machines with the same clip’s duration (also with different footages) and with the same codec…if I use HDV prores 422(not HQ) it works normally…

I already checked my system settings about LIMIT CAPTURE FILE SEGMENT SIZE (not activated), already trashed preferences….

    ANY SUGGESTIONS…?

    Thankyou

    MAC INTEL dual quadcore 3ghz
    8gb ram
    macos 10.5.8 and macos 10.6
    fcp 7

there is no real benefit from using the Prores 422 HQ with HDV material…all you are doing is creating a much larger file, which may be part of the reason you are having problems. Stick to non Pro Res and you should be fine.

No reason for ProRes HQ with HDV footage. ProRes is what is recommended for all frame sizes 1080 or less.

If you’re cutting off at the exact same time each time, sounds like a formatting issue on the hard drive array. Make sure your drive is property formatted and clean.
