Crash Course On Credit Roll?
Posted by Richard Boddington on January 22, 2007 at 6:58 pmHi,
Can some one please give me the $1.98 course on creating a credit roll in FCP 4?
I found the option, I typed in some credits, and hit apply, but nothing happens from that point. I’m not being asked to render any thing.
I need to key them over video.
Thanks

January 22, 2007 at 8:40 pmI double click the shot I want to key the titles over to bring it into my viewer, then I hit the “A” in the bottom right of the viewer, then I scrolled down to “title crawl”.
I window pops open where I can type the credits, I type them, and hit “apply.”
But then what? Nothing happens??????
Thanks

January 22, 2007 at 9:26 pmYou have to change the animation style to Roll. It’s in the Controls tab.

I still don’t see any credits and FCP has not placed a render bar over the shot.

January 22, 2007 at 11:30 pmAre you making this change to the actual clip in the timeline?

January 22, 2007 at 11:45 pmYou’re not done yet! You still need to edit it into the timeline. You’re just creating the text file in the Viewer when you do what you do. FCP doesn’t yet know where you want it to go.
Once you’ve typed, hit “apply” and are back in the regular editing mode, select your in point on your timeline and insert or overwrite.

January 23, 2007 at 4:59 amThe first problem I encounter is that the demo shows a multi coloured menu coming up in the viewer that says:
Insert
Overwrite
Replace
Fit To Fill
SuperimposeI follow his steps but I don’t get that menu. I’m in FCP 4, is that a function of FCP 5?

January 23, 2007 at 5:11 amThat overlay menu is in the canvas. It’s been there since FCP 1.
You need to do the basic tutorial from the install DVD.
