COW Reviews: Adobe Soundboard, a first look
CreativeCOW’s Tim Wilson has offered COW members a first look at the new Adobe Soundboard. In this article, Tim talks with Hart Shafer, the Sr. Product Manager of Audio Products at Adobe. Together, they introduce COW members to the newest member of the Adobe product line — an audio soundtrack tool that brings many new features to the Adobe creative toolkit.

Intel only on the Mac side

I only had time this morning to skim this article, so maybe I missed this, but I was hoping for more comparisons to Soundtrack Pro, Intel-only Mac support notwithstanding. Still, it’s pretty frustrating that yet another Adobe software solution is forcing platform derision.

If it’s any consolation to you PPC folks, the beta crashes on startup on my Mac Pro, and there’s a thread of Mac users (which covers every Intel mac but the mini last I checked) on Adobe Lab’s forum with the same problem.
It’s called Soundbooth. -
I had the same crash-on-startup issue on my Macbook Pro. I figured out that it was Soundflower that was causing Soundbooth to crash. Once I removed it, everything worked fine.
Seems like a nice first step to having a full-fledged Mac port of Audition, which is an app that is sorely needed on the platform.
I’m not impressed with the speed of the app, though. It takes 10 minutes to save out a 2 1/2 hour, mono AIFF file in SoundBooth, whereas the same file takes only 2 minutes to save in SoundForge 8, running under Parallels. There’s also a significant lag between hitting “play” and actually having the playhead engage.

Soundbooth works fine on my Macintel Pro.
