Corrupted Video Clips on Canon 7D
Hi I have been having a issue when filming with the Canon 7d… it seems to be quite a strange error. It’s happened twice now, where I would film something and it would work fine and then shoot the next morning and the clips would get corrupted. (Generally I format the card after each shoot and it doesnt give any problems)
As you can see in the pic it loses all information of the clips, not even a time or filesize. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just throw the card away?
I have been able to rescue the data the first time but the second time I couldn’t salvage anything.

To try and avoid this problem in the future:
Make sure your camera is update with all the latest firmware. Canon’s latest release was supposed to fix some errors when writing files to certain memory cards. Also, make sure you are using fast class 10, 30 MBps cards.To try and recover your files:
I have had corrupt files on my 7D before and I had to turn to https://www.aeroquartet.com/movierepair/repair.html It does cost money, but depending on your situation it might be worth it. Although I am not sure that this will work for you, since your files are 0 KB. When my 7D files were corrupt they showed the right files size but would not play in quicktime or any other player or NLE. The good thing about this Aeroquartet company is you can download some test software to see if it will work with your files before you pay them anything. -
Possibly an incomplete or failed file transfer- could be your card, USB cable, card reader, computer, etc.

It worked for me and is a darn site cheaper than a $100US per clip program.
For some reason it doesn’t work on clips bigger than 2 gigs right now, but they are working on it.
