Corrupt Render File Issue
This may not actually be an issue with FCP, but it’s where it started, so I thought someone might have a solution.
I was rendering a video effect when I ran out of hard drive space. The render aborted normally, but now I have an issue with the render file. It will not delete. I’ve tried deleting it using the “Make Offline” command and by moving the file itself to the trash can. In both cases, either when emptying the trash or choosing the “delete file from disk” option in FCP, the entire system crashes and I have to do a hard reboot of my Mac.
Following some advice I got on a mac forum, I’ve also tried manually deleting the file at the root level using the terminal command “sudo rm -rf.” That causes the same system crash.
I’ve also tried moving the file to an external harddrive in the hope that I might at least get it off of my system. No luck. It didn’t crash, but the file transfer failed.
Has anyone run into a similar issue? It’s a 42gb file, so I’d really like to get rid of it, as my available drive space is running thin.

Run Permissions Repair in Apple Disk Utility and run Disk Warrior. The file has a corrupt head most likely and those apps should help.
