    Hello!

Just wondering if anyone had any nuggets of wisdom about corrupt mov files created by the 7d..?

Been shooting on the Canon 7D with Sandisk 32gb 60mb/s card – a realtively new one, at the time no error message was given, (or that annoying ‘busy’ message that sometimes pops up before it crashes!) – but now, when I moved the files over to my hard drive one of the files is not read as a movie file (even though it is over 3gb on the disk), and when putting the card back into the camera it seems to be gone all together, with no thumbnail or option to play back.

I’ve read a few forums stating problems with the 7d firmware, and possibly large format cf cards, but was just wondering if anyone had any free/cheap suggestions as regards to recovering the data, as I really need the content of that mov file!

    Any help massively appreciated.

    Cheers, Tali

Depending on the value you place on that file… Treasured has saved me on two occasions, but it isn’t too cheap, $50 per file, I think.

By the way, I think I have determined that the cause is starting & stopping recording too fast. At least that is my suspicion. It is the only time I have ever had that error happen.

if there is data there, data recovery wizard professional can get it. but if the file itself is corrupted, use virtualdub to rebuild the broken index file. you might have a missing frame, cut it or blend 2 adjacent frames with timewarp.

As data recovery tools you can try:
    – GetDataBack for FAT (https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm)
    – Partition Recovery or UnEraser from DiskInternals.com

If you do recover a MOV file, you can then use VideoRepair utility (https://grauonline.de/cmsimple2_6/en/?Solutions:HD_Video_Repair_Utility) which as a demo only recover half of the movie, but you can always do “copy FILE000.mov+FILE000.mov DOUBLE.MOV” 🙂
Ah, the video repair utility requires a previous MOV file recorded with ur camera to use it a sa template or something.

You can use MOV repair tool to repair the corrupted MOV files on Mac PC. Previously I was able to fix MOV file on MacBook Air when the MOV file is corrupted using this tool. It worked with the good results. You can download the trial version available on the official website and evaluate the recovery results before purchasing the software. Good luck

Most of the digital gadget uses mov files. Most and nearly every digital gadget uses memory card to store photos or video . But one of the common problem related with memory card is that it often prone to corruption resulting in loss of data stored in it. In order to recover and restore data it is safe and secure to use photo recovery tool.
