I have a Chinese translation in .PDF that I am going through line by line trying to copy each sentence into FCP subtitle boxes.
If I copy a whole sentence, FCP freezes; I have to force quit. If I avoid the punctuation in copying, sometime the copy over is successful.
I brought the contents of the PDF into a Google Doc, and found that if I delete the punctuation, and replace it, most of the time I can successfully copy/paste.
There is another complication though. Once I have copied and pasted one line and I go back to copy and paste the next line, FCP will only paste THE PREVIOUS LINE! To get around this, I have to go into the Google doc and hit carriage return for that second line, reformatting the paragraph – then rehighlight, copy and paste. Then the copy is usually successful. (This was just desperate dumb luck figuring that out).
Needless to say, this is reeeeally time consuming and not a work flow conducive to sanity. It also doesn’t always work. There is constant crashing.
Does anyone know anything about this situation or any fixes for the problem?
I’ve tried changing the font in FCP. I’ve tried bringing the PDF into Text Edit and Text Wrangler…

Can you try to use Title 3D (Boris plugin) instead of the basic titler ?
