  • Copying Timeline and Timeline media with handles.

I’ve been working in Premiere and now am requested to try and move to Final Cut. In Premiere I’ve been working with some raw files from various cameras: EX1, EX3, a Lumix and some others.

I don’t want to spend the time transcoding all the raw material for Final Cut so…

While trying to determine a good workflow in order to accommodate this shift I’m interested to know if I can export a media managed project from Premiere CS5, something similar to Final Cut’s media manage tool, where the sequence and it’s relevant media are copied to a new project (with some handles on the copied media). Then I could just transcode those media files for Final Cut.

    Make sense?

Thanks for any help in advance,

    Cheers,
    Edwin

It sounds like you’re looking for this.

You should also look into exporting a Final Cut Pro XML project from Premiere Pro.

Thanks! That was what I was looking for.

I have used the Final Cut XML export. It’s a very handy function for what I’m doing. I’m now trying to streamline the switch over with regards to these raw video files I’ve been editing with and hopefully the ‘Trimmed’ project will help reduce the amount of transcoding I would be doing by narrowing down the set of clips that need to be transcoded.

    Thanks again,
    Edwin
