  • ‘Copy media with project’ causing problems

Posted by Chris Morley on December 29, 2010 at 2:44 pm

When i select ‘copy media with project’ then select the ‘create trimmed copies of source media’ the resulting copied projects are missing some effects that i’ve applied to the original. I think it may be the effects that i’ve applied to the media, rather than the event, that are affected (missing).

I’m opening the projects on the same pc that the original is on so it’s not as if some of the plug-ins aren’t present on the pc.

This is a real hassle as i’m trying to archive my work and don’t want to have to go messing around with the effects again if i ever need to use the project in the future.

Anyone know what’s going on here??

    Thanks

    chris.

You are opening the veg file that you created when you saved the trimmed project, aren’t you?
I just tried this a few times and any changes I made to the media show up in the new project after opening it.

    Thanks for your time.

Hi, yes i am opening the newly trimmed project.

I just tried an experiment with a long wedding ceremony that i’m currently archiving. It seems to have kept the media effects info (one long clip that lasts for 25 mins) until that media ended and a new one begins (i changed the tape). The new clip doesn’t hold any of the effects info (colour correction), unlike the original, which i also loaded at the same time, to compare.

In this particular instance, the clips were edited in the Multicam feature of Vegas (with a ‘b’ cam), but i’m sure i’ve seen the same thing happen when the clips are edited normally. I’ll have a look at other instances and see if i can see a pattern.

I vaguely recall issues with FX and multicam but, as it’s been a long time since I did any multicam work, I can’t remember the details.
I’m certain that a search of this forum, will turn up something.
