Copy and pasting from one layer to another won’t work.
Hello,
I am working on an opening for a logo want parts of the logo to be drawn on at one time. I’m using the paint tool and the write-on effect. I used the paint brush to draw over the initial image. Then I create a new solid layer and copy and paste the paint from the initial image to the solid and change the mode to “silhouette luma”.
When I copy I am making sure to select the “FX Paint”. When I paste the paint to the solid layer the effect and keyframes appear but when I scroll across the timeline I don’t see anything even in normal mode before I change it to silhouette luma.
I’ve looked all over and can’t seem to figure out my mistake.

Why not just duplicate the solid with the effect on it?

I don’t have time to watch the tutorial right now, but take it from an avid AE user: Instead of creating a new solid and copying the effect over, try duplicating the layer. Can’t hurt to try.
