  • Copy and Paste Node with tracking

Posted by Jeremy Ball on August 17, 2011 at 2:58 am

I have some logos that need to be blurred out. A single node tracked and blurred out at 100% is not enough to make the logo unreadable.

If I make a still of the scene and open the node graph I can copy that blur node but the tracking data does not come with it. The window and blur are there along with any other corrections but the tracking animation is not included in the node copy.

Is there a way that I can get the tracking data to include with the copied node from the node graph or is there another way to copy s node with tracking data included?

    Thanks

Can you just feed the node’s alpha channel into the other node? You’ll have the same “tracking” and apply different corrections.

I agree, copying tracking should be possible by a paste selection like Scratch offers.
One can choose to paste global or local animation data.

Thanks. I did not think to route the alpha for tracking windows. That works really well. I still wonder why you can not bring the tracking data with a node when you copy it though. Not a big deal when you can just use the alpha from the node and feed it to all the other blur nodes. Thanks again.

Cool to read this, as I am now working on a project with the exact same issue as you described. It’s shot in prison and I have to blur the inmate’s face, but one single blur isnt enough.

I also used the alpha-feeding technique and it works perfectly. Just like to add one shortcut. If you hate fiddling with the tiny triangles on the nodes just right click and do ‘add outside node’, then go to the key settings and invert the key. I found this way more faster if you have to add 4 more blurs for example.
