cookie cutter simple question
Hi everyone …quite new to forum ..just studying all the vasst tutorials I purchased, but would like to know one thing for now.
I’m learning so much more quickly from this forum than any tut, as most of you know.In cookie cutter, Sony Vegas 8, can you make the “rectangle” shape vertical instead of horizontal? This would sure make it easy to apply
portrait video and hide the black sides.I have searched the forum for the answer, and reviewed lots of cookie cutter tuts, but can’t find any reference to turning the rectangle 90 degrees.
If the answer to this is easy I’m going to smack my head.

Not quite sure what you are trying to do.
If you have a vertical portrait with black sides you can place anything on the track below the portrait track and it will take the place of the black sides.
Or you can click the pan/crop symbol in the portrait event, then right click the work field in the pan crop window which will bring up a menu, then choose match output aspect and the black sides will disappear but you will alos lose some of the vertical aspect of the picture. You can move it around to have the important part visible.
If you use the masking tool in pan/crop you can make any shape mask you want.

Terry, thankyou. All those suggestions are very helpful and I will experiment with them all.
I was wondering if you could just turn the cookie cutter “rectangle shape” around 90 degrees. Right now its, say, 10 wide by 4 high. If I could just turn it, my video would fit in nicely without having to make a mask etc.
There is a “size” slider, but it just resizes it wider and shorter.
I’m probably showing my “newbieness” here, sorry! I hate being newbie at things.

For what it sounds like you are trying to do my first suggestion is the simplest. If you are trying to do something else, please explain.
