I am using CS3 primere pro and my camera records in AVI, however PP cant read them. I encode them in any video converter to WMV as that seems to make the format alot worse. Also too add to that I have to stretch it to the size of the canvase resulting in more quality loss. Can anyone help me at all??

here is a link to it.

AVI files are uncompressed and WMV files are compressed, that’s why there is such a difference in file size.

CS3 should be capturing in AVI, so your real problem is to find out why your CS3 is not capturing the avi.

Remember any compressed file type will not be as high of quality as uncompressed.
