A client gave me a file created in illustrator and I only have illustrator 10. every time i open it it says “cant open illustration, the file was generated by a newer version of illustrator and cannot be opened, please resave it in a format compatible with your vers of illustrator”.

I resave the illustration in 10 and it does not appear to be anything. Meanwhile i open the file in Photoshop and I can see the artwork (so i know that it exists)

how do i “down convert” the illustration to 10 so i can keep the file as the original EPS? Is this even possible?
