Converting HD to DV in FCP
Hi!
I’m relatively new to Final Cut Pro 5 but I managed to finish my first two films (yay). They were both shot and captured in HDV and I exported them with no problem with Quicktime movie. I can play them on my Mac, and all other Macs, but the DVD’s won’t work on any PC’s or in any DVD player I’ve tried.
I’m thinking that if I can convert the films to DV and then export them then they’ll be fine but I can’t figure out how to do this. I’m sure this is a stupid question, but any thoughts?

I am guessing that your Quicktime file is still in the HDV format and you did not make a video DVD. If you made an HD DVD or a DVD ROM, you will not get it to work on regular DVD players and the file may not work on PCs.
To get your video on a DVD video, you need to convert it to MPEG. Use DVD Studio Pro or Compressor to convert the files and then use DVD Pro to create the DVD. Do you need more information then that?
