I am editing a short film in FCP 6 that was shot in DVCProHD, 720p and at 23.98 fps. However the person who converted the tapes to QT files did it in such a fashion that my browser displays 59.94 fps for the footage. If the film was originally shot in 23.98 how do I convert it back to it’s original frame rate of 23.98? Also, considering I own FC Studio 2, is there frame rate conversion software built into the software that will help me out? Or do I need to download a converter? Thanks.

how did they convert the tapes? if we are talking SD here, you are in for a ride, as there are no flags and every start stop on the original tape creates a new cadence sequence.

the Software FRC in FCP 6 is built in and is the most current version but it only works with DVCPROHD codec materials.

other wise it is a long lesson in Cinema tools.

I’m not exactly sure how he converted the tapes as I wasn’t there with him. However, when I pull up the “Item Properties” of a clip it reads “HD (960×720)” for Pixel Aspect, 59.94 for the Vid Rate (Clip and V1) and the data rate was 13.9 MB/sec. I do also know that he used a deck and not a camera to do the conversion. Does that answer your question? Thanks so much!
