Converting 1080p24 to 1080i50 – what’s the best workflow in FCS?
I need to convert some 1080p24 footage to 1080i50. Can anyone suggest a workflow for achieving this with maximum quality within FCS? I’ve seen workflows involving AfterEffects, but I don’t have access to that.
All suggestions (apart from “buy AfterEffects”) gratefully received 😉

If total running time and speed are not an issue, the cleanest way would be to conform the footage in Cinema Tools to 25fps. It will play back around 4% faster, but look as good as the original.

I have no idea if this would work, but it’s ‘free’ and worth a try.
Download a trial of Adobe CS5.5 and use Adobe Media Encoder to convert your footage. The trial has all of the available codecs working for 30 days.

Thanks Dennis, but since this will be an ongoing issue I really need an FCS-only solution. I think I can use Mark’s suggestion in concert with an idea elsewhere on the Cow to use Optical Flow in Motion and then reinterlace in FCP.
