Need to convert a sequence that was captured and edited using 10 BIt Uncompressed down to DV.
I do not want the sequence as a DV movie I want to convert all the clips used in the sequence to DV.
Using the media manager I’ve been able to get all the clips converted, only problem is that they have
all the incorrect field dominance. Creating a custom recompression with DV set to Upper field makes
no difference. Is there any way to successfully convert this sequence of clips to DV?

For the NTSC-guys: This is only a PAL issue.

The Mediamanager uses the normal QuickTime-Conversion
and so the field dominance won’t switch. Only Compressor 2
    can do this.

If you want to do Offline-Editing, try using the Sony IMX settings.
With 30 MBit you’re close to DV but the field dominance is also
upper field first like with uncompressed PAL. Also Photo-JPEG is
an option, but you won’t have realtime effects than …

Thanks for the tip. No I wasn’t after an offline setting. It’s a finished TV series that I would like to take away some of and edit at home into my demo reel. Just made sense to do this as DV. I’ll have a go at IMX and see what it’s like. Thanks.

By the way the IMX-Setups were fixed in the FCP 5.0.2 update.
It might be that you have to update the easy setups because
the field dominance was set so lower field — what is wrong.

I also figured out that only the 50 MBit setup provides realtime
effects … not the 30 and 40 MBit IMX. Sorry for that …
