Converted VOB to MPG fast and choppy video
I was given a DVD with some old home movies that I converted using VOB2MPG because I knew .mpg was an easy format for Vegas.
But it’s the same problem when I tried to import the VOBs by themselves. The video is fast and out of sync with the audio, and it’s VERY, VERY choppy.
If you need a step-by-step of what I did, here:
1. Ripped the VOBs with DVDShrink by just ripping the 4 main movie files.
2. Converted the 4 main ripped VOBs with VOB2MPG.
3. Imported them into Vegas 9 with all the problems listed above.I’m a little new to this stuff and mainly wanted to play around with some of Vegas’s features and effects. I’ve fiddled around with all that I know of in the program (which is not that much). Sorry if I’m being stupid requesting help.

Did you try using the Vegas Import | DVD Camcorder Disc… instead of DVDShrink? The only reason to use DVDShrink for VOB files is to break copy protection which I assume “old home movies” would not have.

and apparently doesn’t use it for legal purposes haha.

… my main reason to use DVD shrink is to “fit” an already authored DVD bigger than 4.7 Gigs on a single layer DVD.. and also to “rejoin” VOBs from a DVD structure into one ….
