    Hi

I need urgently convert my 90`Quick Time 1920X1080 23,98 uncompressed documentary file to the best (broadcast) quality correspondent h.264 file.

I can see only h.263 in QT in Vegas and, whenever I set up the parameters to 23.98p 1920X1080 etc, the resulting rendered file always is 352x198x24 , 23,976 fps progressive H.263 (and is very contrasty).

So how can I make this convertion to h.264 in Vegas Pro9 / Pro10?

You cannot create H.264 QuickTime files in Vegas. You need to purchase QuickTime Pro ($29) and convert it with that.

You can create H.264 MP4 files in Vegas Pro using the Sony AVC or MainConcept AVC codecs. Just not QuickTime. You could also render with Sony AVC and change the mp4 extension to mov. I’ve tried it and it does work on a Mac so that’s another option.

    Thank you John
I tried QT Pro but the resulting rendered file always shows unstable colors in some clips.
I also tried Sony AVC (HD 1920X1080 23,98) but get a error message, error that is not determined (so I don`t know why).
I can make the file with template Blue Ray 1920X1080 24p – 16 mbps, but I`m afraid there is no broadcast quality, as well as with main concept at 80Mbps.
Is there a quality free download converter software?

    Hey Ronaldo–

I just went through exactly what you’re going through. QTPro worked for awhile, and then starting a couple months ago I’d get lots of flickering and weird artifacts at transitions. I spent three days poking around the web looking for free/cheapy converters, but nothing I could find worked worth a damn.

I finally ran out of time and sanity and caved and bought Sorenson Squeeze 7. It works great, but it’s hard to figure out and costs your first born child.

“flickering and weird artifacts”, exctly. That`s what I`m getting with QT Pro. Thank you.

If you don’t have quicktime pro.(which will screw up your gamma levels anyways)…….
When a client asks for a H264 quicktime you have to keep them happy.
I have tested this for the past few months and it works well.
To start click on FILE / RENDER AS.Then select MainConcept AVC/AAC(mp4)…Select a template or create your own… I personally do not select the allow source checkboxes and define the frame size and frame rate..After all your info is in create the .mp4 file… When it is done… change the file extension from .mp4 to .mov. Your video will now open up in quicktime (and Final Cut) and read as a quicktime H264 file with AAC audio. It will even fool the Macheads.. Ken-Postique
