Convert MKV to Playstation 3 format – With Surround Sound
Hi
I have several movies in the MKV format with Surround Sound and are trying to convert them to a format that can play on Playstation 3. I have tried several different attempts to convert it to h.264. My latest attempt was in Compressor 3 where I found a h.264 setting with PCM Surround Sound, yippie! 😀 I thought atleast. But sadly it didnt work. The movie plays good on my Mac but not on the ps3. The file ending is .mov and doesnt even show up on the ps3.So I wonder if anyone here knows how to convert MKV to a ps3 compatible format with surround sound? I would like to convert the video on my Mac but if you got a PC option it will still do.

It’s not an easy process and I’m not sure it’s even possible to do on the Mac OS.
There are many, many threads on the subject over at Doom9, a search there will bring up a ton of results.

I do have tried that, but I couldnt get surround sound. But I guess I will have to try once again.

I tried with GotSent but all it left me with was a file of about 40mb which was long from all :S

I am using Daniusoft Media Converter Pro, it can directly convert MKV files to PS3 with lossless video quality

I used PS3 for a year and was still looking for a solution to play MKV on PS3. Until I found this from avforums:
