Convert HD 720p/50 to SD 576i/50

I edited a video fully in 720p 50f/s , now I am wondereing if there is a tool out there (Final Cut or Compressor from Apple do no seem to have this feature) to downconvert to 576i/50
When I try this in Final Cut or compressor it basically just outputs a 576p 25 f/s so I loose a lot of motion smoothnes, but ther must be a better way. If a converter would take the first field of the first progressive Frame then take the second field of the second progressive frame and put both in the first frame of the new 25i video I would not loose any motion-quality. In other word in a 720p50 video is every information I would need to make a “true” 25 f/s intelanced video. But the usual conversion just makes a 25 f/s progressive frames.
Any experiance with a smart re-interlancing software?

Compressor should be able to do this. Just make sure to turn on Frame Controls and set the quality settings (particularly in the Resizing section) to best.

I should also have mentioned you can use an I/O device like the Kona 3 to do this in realtime.
