    Hello,

My boss gave me 60 video clips totaling 4gb in size to edit together for him. The clips are in 16×9 HD and in .m2t format. I want to transfer them to .mov for use in FCP. I have done some test conversions in Streamclip and a simple 30 second clip turns out to be over a gig when I convert it (in .m2t format it is around 140mb). What are the best Streamclip settings to convert these clips to .mov and have them be similar size to the .m2t originals? Is there a way to do this and not have to render them once in FCP? Thanks!

m2t is basically HDV. You can transcode to that codec if you want to keep things fairly equal.

Joe- As a test right click on one of those clips and choose ‘Get Info’ and change the extension to .mov (you can always change it back). Then choose ‘Open With’ Quicktime. If it works then just drag them into a FCP HDV project. Its worked for us and is a whole lot faster than transcoding. It’s worth a shot.
