What lens and mattebox set up have you got on there?

May 15, 2009 at 12:31 amThe lens is the Fujinon XA17x7.6BERM together with the FujinonACM-21 adapter. Very nice images.
The Nano Flash fits on the back hot shoe perfectly.
The Matte Box and Follow Focus are from red rock. Far from the best and not a follow focus system I would recommend.

May 15, 2009 at 12:52 amRight, so that’s an HD lens?
See, the thing is I’ve tried an SD Fuji 19×6.5BRM lens on the front of mine and it looks okay to me. So I can’t figure out why I’d shell out the $ for an HD equivalent. Admittedly I haven’t tested/compared it a lot but I’d like to know your thoughts on this.
Yeah, re the M/Box etc. I’m looking into the cavision, because I’ve heard similar re the redrock stuff and don’t really have the $ for the croziel or Arri etc.

May 15, 2009 at 1:13 amHow do you control start and stop recording on the Nano? Do you have to reach back to the box on the back of the camera or is there some remote option?

May 15, 2009 at 4:30 amHi again Michael,
i tracked down your answer to the SD V HD lens question here:
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/193/872060
seems pretty clear what I’m up against.
Sorry to highjack your thread about your cool new Convergent Design Nano Flash.
It’s on my list of things to get. But to be honest by the time I’ve got the $ for it, someone will probably have come up with something cheaper to do the same job.All the best. Please keep us posted how you get on with it.
Cheers

Dear Denis,
The nanoFlash can be setup, via the menu, to start on incrementing timecode, in other words, when the camera starts recording.
And it will stop when the camera’s timecode stops.
While this works fine, there are some points to consider.
1. Cameras may not start rolling timecode unless you have a memory card (SxS or other memory) in your camera.
2. Timecode typically stops when the memory card in the camera is full. Since the nanoFlash can record longer than the camera, this is not always desirable.
3. For certain styles of shooting, controlling the nanoFlash via timecode works great.
For long event recording we recommend another method.
4. One can just press the record button on the nanoFlash without rolling the camera.
5. One can use a convenient lighted push-button remote control to start and stop the nanoFlash.

May 15, 2009 at 12:34 pmDon’t know if I missed it, but has anyone asked how much this cost? About $2,995 I believe. And how much recording time at the highest resolution?
What advantage is this over the cards? -

May 15, 2009 at 12:34 pmThis thread is kind of funny:
– Look, Look. What a beautiful lady.
– Oh yes. Beautiful shoes.
– Were did she bought her shirt?
– Ummm. I love her car.
– ..:-)
Michael and Dan,
What about powering the Nano?
Any idea how to fit it to the EX-1?
I’ve been thinking about to carrying in a bag or so, and a cable with BNC.
I have to think because here I have not any kind of ready made solutions.
Michael send some picture ASAP.
