Controlling the lengths of video effects
Hello chaps,
I’m fairly new to Vegas, but finding it great fun to use. I’m currently editing a video for an in-game movie from a game called “world of warcraft” – and although I’ve learnt how to insert video effects I’m stumped as to how to control their length. Any effects I try to apply are applied to the entire track- obviously I need to control their length through keyframes but I’m not sure how – although I have learnt how to pan and crop my tracks with no problem
Essentially what I want to do is pause the video (with the soundtrack still playing as normal of course) and slightly blur it, and then have some embossed text appear and breifly introduce a new character (lliterally only 2 words long), then have the text and blur effect fade out and the video to unpause and continue as normal.
If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to pause and blur all at the same instant. Then I’d suggest making a still image of that frame and insert it at the right moment in the video. Apply the blur just to the still.
Otherwise, the best way to proceed is to create the still by using a velocity envelope ramped or set to 0%. The apply he blur to the track using keyframes (normally you could just add it to the event, but the velocity envelope will complicate things). Not sure what problem you are having with keyframes, but make sure you turn on the sync cursor to make it easier to adjust the keyframes where you need them.

Either split the section out that needs the effect into its own piece or use keyframes to control when it is or is not there.

Thanks for the replies guys – I’ll try splitting the track and applying the effect to the split portion – also creating a still image for the paused/blur effect sounds good, I will try that too.

Hi, I have the same problem but could not solve, The truth is that no entendi, I want to do is a matter of a band, That during the single screen shake, The effect I have and I can use, The problem is that I applied to all the full video and nose as you select when to start and when to stop
