I’m trying to watch videos on my MP4 player while I’m running at the gym. This works fine when I’m watching something bright. When I watch darker videos, the lights at the gym make it difficult to see the video.
I have tried making the video brighter in Vegas MS, but it usually makes the bright scenes a little too bright and leaves the dark ones not quite bright enough. I also notice that the blacks brighten and don’t look completely black. Is there a way I can adjust the contrast and the brightness in a way that leaves the blacks as dark as they can be, while allowing the subtly lighter darks to brighten all while leaving the brightest scenes virtually untouched?

    Thank you,
    Justin

Use the Sony Color Curves FX and keyframe the settings based on the brightness of the scene. Make the curve look like a slight S and it will blacken the blacks while raising the highlights.

Thanks, John. I’ll give it a shot.
