  • Content Browser failing on “Import to FCP”

Posted by Joe Williams on June 21, 2013 at 3:44 pm

When I import footage from the Content Browser 1.1.0.322 to FCP X 10.0.8, it

    1. changes the frame rate from 23.97 to 60flat

    2. down coverts from 1920×1080 to 1280×720

    3. breaks the A/V synch while mixing the stereo down to mono

I cannot for the life of me find a settings window or even any menu that would allow me to set any of these things. Has anyone seen this happen before?

For reference, it has done with with both .mp4 from an EX-1 and .mxf from a c300.

something is dreadfully wrong or we are missing some info here; Content Browser only re-wraps upon import to FCP. it has no idea how to transcode during this process so even if it lost its mind it’s next to impossible that this would be the result.

that said, i can make a few recommendations:

    1) use Content Browser 2.0.1 and make sure FCPX is @ 10.0.8.

    2) use the free Camera Import plugin for X…this does the same thing as CB (places a QT wrapper around the file, leaving it in its native codec) but natively within FCP X

    Same here.

The files aren’t actually converted though! If you open them in Finder/QTPlayer/Whatever or even import them manually, they are correctly reported as 1080/25.

I need to use CB as it’s the only way to transfer markers. Don’t know of a solution as of now.
