    consumer Panasonic cam?

    Hi there –

    I have a DVX100 but have a question concerning lower models, and thought all you pros might be able to help. An inner-city school that I’m working with would like to buy some cameras for their students to use. I have been trying to find a consumer camera ($300-$500) that will allow an external mic plug-in (3.5 mm) so that the students can use this Audio Technica wired mic (https://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wired_mics/742fb06dd066b3ec/index.html).

    I haven’t had much luck finding such a camera, does anyone know of one? It seems like consumer cams are not offering an ext mic option anymore?

    There is a Canon model that is pretty cheap that has an ext mic connector. Call a reputable Camera retailer and ask which one it is. It does not come with a headphone jack unfortunately. Apparently you can’t have both.
