Consolidating subclips and moving to another drive
I’m working on a project with 2 external drives, 1 Lacie and 1 Seagate. The Seagate is giving me problems so I’m now getting another Lacie.
I will need to copy about 250g of media from the Seagate to new Lacie. My master clips are very long and I will like to subclip them and copy as smaller media files. Is this possible in FCP? In Avid is dead easy by using the Consolidate option where the sub-clip becomes a master clip.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Grab the manual and look up MEDIA MANAGER. It has step by step instructions.
Why do you need to subclip into smaller media files?

Thanks. I think using smaller media files will help the drive to be more efficient. What do you think?

Wouldn’t really be more efficient. First you’d have to make the subclips independent, then create new media for them, then delete the master clip…THEN move things to the other drive.
Nah…no need for that.
