Hi – i’m trying to export a picture locked seq with handles on to an external drive so that it can be opened and used in another edit facility, but i don’t know how to do it. I know that on an avid system the seq can be selected then consoldated with embedded media on to a different drive but i’m stuck when it comes to doing this in fcp.
the footage is all dv-pal, the external drive is usb 2.0
    any advice is welcome.

You will want to use File/ Media Manager. In the Media Manager area you can specify what you are trying to do (in your case it sound like “Copy” would be the desired selection). At the bottom of this window is a “Media Destination” area that allows you to select where you want this project saved. Good luck!

thanks – the dialog box looked very familiar to the avid one so it all maked sense, although the data speed from drive to drive (both external (one is usb powered) via a usb hub is terrible – 3 days estimate for a 29 minute sequence seems a little excessive to say the least. I’ll check back in a few hours and see if it’s changed. The handles are only 2 seconds, it’s not a huge amount to move/copy.
Again – thanks a lot for the advice.
