I am trying to connect a Sony DSR-85 through a BlackMagic Deckink SP card to a PC to import video into Primere Pro SC3. I have been able to use the BlackMagic card to capture video for editing but I don’t have the remote control capabilities for the DSR-85. Does anyone know what I need to do to get Primere Pro to use the serial port on the BlackMagic card to control the DRS-85?

A couple of things, 1)The Sony DSR-85 has no firewire support but does have the RM422A connector on the back of the deck. The RM-422 port does work with other editors 2)I’ve checked in my device manager and both of my serial com ports are working properly.

    Thanks,
    Frank

Your BM card should have a comm port to it…if so use that.

When I connect the comm port on the BM card I don’t get the option in Primere to control the deck, only the record and stop cortrols are available in my capture window.

Make sure your BM driver is loaded for the comm port.
